Last week I wrote about 17 ways to can make money with your crochet.

Now its time to put your products in front of people so they can see and purchase your products.

Some of these marketing channels can also be used for sales. The obvious and most recommended is social media, but you need to have a clear marketing  strategy and remain consistent on the platform. Having a well social media presence legitimizes your business and creates confidence with your customers.

There are millions of businesses operating on and offline, therefore need to have multiple marketing strategies to get in front of your clients. Establish at least five marketing channels where your target clients are mostly interacting. Here are some of the channels to consider for your business.

1.Social Media

Identify the social media platform where your target customer is mostly interacting, as well as where you have the most engaged following. Crochet is a visual product, it is therefore important to focus on platforms that are more into photos and videos. Choose your top three and create content for them. Here are the social media platforms you can choose from. Facebook/Instagram is ideal because you can also use it as a sales channel.

4. Own website

You can create a website using any of these platforms. You will have to pay to be hosted if you are using your own your domain and if you want to be receiving payments on your website. But there are also free versions which you can use and then direct your customers to your preferred sales channel. You will have to do research to see what works best for your business.

  • Wix
  • Squarespace
  • ECWD
  • Shopify
  • Blogger

6. Brick and Mortar

Rent a space or a shelf in a store and sell your products. Supply to other stores that have a physical locations.

7. Craft Markets

Participate in craft markets in your community. Have some business cards, product tags for the items you sell and collect contacts of those that are on the fence or want to place an order.

 8. Word of Mouth

One of the most powerful marketing tools, you need to tell people that you sell crochet item so they can purchase from you. Use your crochet items as often as possible so that people you interact with can see how your products are used. Use them as décor items in your home, wear the dress; send your child to a play date with the amigurumi you made.

The principle Rome was not built in a day applies here. When starting out it may be a challenge for people to purchase your products. Consistency is key, the more you show up, people begin to trust you and are more likely to purchase from you. Find a marketing channel where you get most results and capitalize on it. Re purpose your content across platforms so you are not exhausted by content creation alone, but also have time to work on your business.
